Section 21 Process

In South Africa, it is now fully legal to purchase cannabis flower with a doctor’s prescription. The only 100% legal access pathway is through a prescription approved by SAHPRA as an unregistered medicine under Section 21 of the Medicines Act, with the product dispensed through a licensed pharmacy.

  • Complete the form below

  • A virtual doctor's appointment will be arranged for you by Uncle Rooney’s.

    If the doctor concludes that a cannabis product is an appropriate treatment they will issue a prescription.

  • Uncle Rooney’s pays the R350 application fee.

  • SAHPRA approves your prescription (and supporting documentation) and issues a Section 21 approval letter, which contains the name of the doctor, the name of the patient and the prescribed medicinal product.

    Estimated time of approval is 48 hours.

  • The invoice for your medicinal cannabis, including the delivery fee will be sent to by the pharmacy prior to delivery to you door.

  • Using the letter of consent you provided, Uncle Rooney’s collects your medicinal product from the pharmacy and delivers it to you.
